Currently watching this series to fill the void of not having Shatter Me be a movie (currently reading the Shatter Me series for the first time so please forgive me and my snark lol)

(For those who don’t know and have been living under a rock) Divergent is a dystopian film that revolves around a character named Tris (Beatrice) as she tries to prevent a coup attempt by the faction Erudite against her home faction Abnegation.

The ruins of Chicago are split into 5 factions:

• Erudite (values intelligence, knowledge production, mainly creates medicine and technology for the country)
• Abnegation (values selflessness, rejection of vanity, runs the government due to their perceived incorruptible qualities)
• Dauntless (values courage, fearlessness, physical ability and action, they are the police and military of the country)
• Candor (values honesty and truth above all, they uphold the law, and provide laws and lawyers and justice to the country)
• Amity (values friendship, peace, kindness and harmony, they do the farming and agriculture for the country)

I watched this movie before (a long time ago when it was released in theaters but I completely forgot what happened and what the ending was like) and I found it very captivating.

I never read the books although I remember the hype. Maybe I will read them?….

Random Thought: I wonder if the Hunger Games revival (BSAS & SOTR) will bring back dystopian movies and book popularity??? I sure do hope so 😄

Overall a very fast paced movie and an interesting premise about what causes war and how to prevent it.

Spoilers and random questions below:

• The romance between Four and Triss was a little rushed though, it was like 2 weeks and they are already saying “I love you” ????? likeeeeee that was quick

• Also, why are they going to the end of the line, do they even know what’s over there, what if it’s worse? 
• What’s going to happen to the rest of Abnegation when Erudite just tries again??
• Dauntless seems extremely fatphobic and ableist!
  • Like making those people fight each other day one, like obviously the stronger ones with nice genetics will win even if the fat person is a true dauntless! 
  • They should have at least a month of training to actually help them develop these skills, like if I’m from Amity, I might be stronger due to years of farming than someone in Candor
  • Also, what about these people’s parents here, everyone in Dauntless looks young and healthy, what do y’all just kick the old people into factionless groups… that’s ageist…
• The fact that the President was Abnegation and still beating his son…. (side eye)

• What if someone just chooses Abnegation in order to be President? 

• Also how are the tests/initiations like for the other factions, like what about Candor?
• Why don’t they just send the factionless back to their home country instead of just making them homeless on purpose and then getting mad when Abnegation takes care of them likeeee?????? Why make a problem and then get mad when someone else is trying to fix it?! 

• Also why did Tobias choose the name Four? Maybe they will tell us in the following movies

Anyways that’s all today! Next review is going to be Insurgent 🙂
