Well this was a flop.
For those who don’t know, Allegiant is the third and final movie in the Divergent series and based on the third book in the Divergent series that goes by the same name.
Synopsis:
Tris (Shailene Woodley) escapes with Four (Theo James) to travel beyond the wall that encloses Chicago. For the first time, they leave the only city to find a solution to the war between Factionless and Amity. Once outside, they learn that it was actually an experiment and the box from Insurgent (the previous film) was to show how true “purity” (Divergents) can exist and overtime they can self-correct the genome (because a whole race war happened because they were messing with personality traits of people through genetics, so all the 5 sects (candor, dauntless, erudite, amity, abnegation) are genetically damaged and prone to violence when mixed). Amongst learning all of this Tris has to help Chicago, stop the war, and prevent the Genome project from allowing suffering to continue for the sake of science.
This movie was going towards…something, but totally missed the mark at the end.

We learn that the core group finally makes it past the wall but is mislead and manipulated by the outside world which makes us almost yearn for the familiar abuse of Jeanine and Erudite.
I’m still at a loss for words so here are my thoughts while watching the movie.
- Who put these locs on this girl? Tori Wu… take that off right now! SIDE EYEEE! This look was horrible, and she died so quick anyways so.. I guess I don’t care
- Why are is Theo’s mom/Evelyn/Madame Factionless not letting them past the wall? What difference is it to them? Likeeee if you wanna go, go I guess. More food for the rest of us.
- I really like Candor, and tbh their leader is fine asf I’d vote for him. You know what, Candor should be in charge not Factionless or Erudite because they honest and will do the right thing. 🫣🤭 hehehehe What? Daniel Dae Kim a.k.a. Jack Kang is fine asf, look at that face!
- Can we just do a vote on whether to kill the Erudite/Dauntless conspirators, we ain’t gotta do all these theatrics.
- Yea keep begging Caleb talking about some “Please help me” naw f*** you.

- Theo James has a very nice voice 🫣🤭
- Why did Four break Caleb out of jail? Really Tris, that’s literally just because he’s your brother, but he’s a traitor!!!
- Why are they letting Caleb in the back, he should be in the trunk, he’s hella visible right now
- Omg this f***ing snitch, why is he snitching on Four, just mind your business it’s one prisoner out of a bunch
- SHOOT TO KILL? That’s the presidents son, she did not approve of this
- Caleb really isn’t suited for this life and lowkey neither am I lol. They got him stumbling through the forest and walking on walls hahahahahahahaha
- I knew Tori was gonna die the way she was looking at her whomp whomp oh well, bye bye Goldilocks
- Omg Illinois looks like Mars! Like guys what the heck is this??? Imagine waiting 200 years to go over the wall, just to see literally nothing for a couple miles. That would kill me, I’d be like alright y’all time to wrap it up and go home.

- I still don’t get it, genetically unmodified people developed the bureau of genetic welfare and they wanted an experiment to purify the genome (but isn’t that what started the whole war in the first place?)
- Did their ancestors volunteer for this experiment?
- It looks like they went from one jail to another lowkey
- So the 100% Divergent is the most pure genetically, but being divergent is based on having personality traits not physical features (candor, dauntless, erudite, amity, abnegation) okayyyyyyy 👀 suspicious
- Who and what is providence?
- This is lowkey creepy that these strangers watched them like it was Big Brother or something. Its giving…
- Oooh so the Perfexa product f***ed people up which is why they divided people up.
- So overtime it returns to its original form, so only 100% is pure. Okay got it!
- NATALIE, TRIS’S MOM IS NOT FROM CHICAGO OMG AND THAT’S HOW SHE HAD THE BOX OMGGG
- Who are the Fringers? Ohh just poor people okay got it.
- Oh it’s Bureau v.s. Fringers
- What if the mom’s genetic material made Triss pure, what if they had to genetically mix with them? 🧐
- Oooh I noticed how Four’s wrist has one bar less than Triss who has full bars, that’s how you know he ain’t pure. 👆🏾🤓
- Who tf are you Nita?
- Why are they only saving the kids in the Fringe and not the whole family?
- They erase their memories beforehand, what to prevent them getting angry about them being stolen
- Damn Amity is really squaring up, they said we Allegiant. Is the Amity leader from Dauntless? She being a baddie fr! They said, we about friendship, but don’t forget I ride for my people.
- All of the high level workers are pure only. Casual Eugenics… like that’s never caused a problem before right. 🙄
- What other choice does Tris have than to try with the Council?
- Great now they are stuck in the Fringe
- Bro what David whatttt funding whattttt?
- Side Note: SO ALL OF THIS WAS FOR MONEYYYY! What a let down, thank God I didn’t read the books because that would piss me off so bad.
- Wow Peter has had no character development. I never trusted him tbh
- Does Four have to fight his way through everything, it seems like all he does is punch people.
- Omg Peter wtf, did he just kill Tobias’s mom omg Peter is such a villain
- Ok that was mad creepy, the whole shutting down doors thing underground. ALSOO that scene reminded me of the scene in Mockingjay Part 2 when President Snow was making them run through the city trying to kill them… someone’s copyingggg. oooh I’m tellin 🤭
- Side Note: Jeff Daniels is not an intimidating villain whatsoever. I’m supposed to be scared of this?
- So what now they gonna breakdown the wall and then what?
- Side Note: I hate the “it was all an experiment” or the “it was all a dream” trope. It literally sucks. It’s like wow, we spent so much effort and time into making y’all suffer when in reality, it has no impact on the outside world whatsoever. The outside world barely gives a f*** about these projects and he just want’s to use y’all for money.
- So they were able to stop the toxic gas from making everyone forget everything, (including them), but the Genome girlies are still out there and the war is lowkey at a truce I guess because the war didn’t really begin. 🤷🏾♀️
- This movie has two parts omgggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- WHAT SO THEY NEVER FINISHED ALLEGIANT PART 2
- Actually, I take that back, don’t finish the job. I don’t need to see more of this.
What makes this movie so bad is the build up to nothing, and how all of this could have been avoided if we just didn’t mess with genetics. I found out that in the books, they destroy the genome project and people can live wherever they want (in Chicago or elsewhere) but Tris dies. WHAT, nawww I hate when then FMC (female main character) dies. Now I understand why I didn’t remember this movie when it came out. My mind was trying to erase the memory to protect me from the pain of watching this. Anyways, you could never be The Hunger Games.
